PhD travel fellowships in multilingual tools and resources

The Bergen Advanced Training Site in Multilingual Tools (BATMULT) at the
University of Bergen, Norway, offers interdisciplinary training in
multilingual resources and tools. The Bergen site provides training
through courses, project work and individual supervision.
As of May 1, 2004, candidates from CYPRUS, THE CZECH REPUBLIC, ESTONIA,
HUNGARY, LATVIA, LITHUANIA, MALTA, POLAND, SLOVAKIA and SLOVENIA are
eligible for funding and can apply now!
Fellowships are open to EU PhD students in linguistics, information
science, or other relevant disciplines, taking a multingual perspective
on computational linguistics theory or applications, or on language
contacts, especially between the Scandinavian and other European languages,
and wishing to visit Bergen in order to increase their knowledge and
skills regarding multilingual tools and resources.
BATMULT is established through support from the European Union's 5th
Framework Programme for Research, "Improving Human Research Potential
and the Socio-economic Knowledge Base", Marie Curie Host Fellowship scheme.
Fellows will receive 1200 Euro per month in subsistence allowance, and
will be refunded a two-way travel to Bergen, restricted to economy class
air and rail fare.
Doctoral students from EU member states are welcome to apply for vacant
positions in 2004 and 2005. The number of fellowships is limited.
Applications for the fall term should preferably be sent in May.
