Re: Empirical Software Engineering - New web site, publisher,
     and 10th anniversary

Dear colleagues,

The Empirical Software Engineering journal provides a forum for the
dissemination of empirical studies and methodologies in software
engineering.

One important goal is to promote research on relevant software
development problems following the scientific method and empirical
approaches. It is therefore a venue to publish empirical
results which are relevant to both researchers and practitioners.

Example recent papers have covered a variety of topics such as:

- the application of agile methodologies

- cost estimation of software development

- decision making regarding software architectures

- comparing design notations for web applications

This message is to inform you that Empirical Software Engineering is now
a Springer journal as a result of the merger of Kluwer Academic
Publishers and Springer Verlag, under the name of Springer. Springer is
now the world's second-largest supplier of scientific literature.

Coincidentally, this is also the tenth anniversary of the journal! The
journal has served as a vehicle for researchers and practitioners alike,
promoting the importance of empirical software engineering as well as a
providing a resource for understanding the effectiveness and maturity of
software practices in context. Over the last decade, we have contributed
to the dissemination of evidence about software engineering methodology
and hope to continue to do so in the next decade.

The new, up-to-date journal web site can be found at:

We are looking forward to receiving your submissions and suggestions.

Best regards,

Victor Basili and Lionel Briand
