Research Associate in Text Mining for Biology
University of Manchester

The School of Informatics of the University of Manchester invites
applications for a research associate in the area of text mining for
biology. The post will be closely related to the activities of the UK
National Centre for Text Mining (NaCTeM) and the Manchester
Interdisciplinary Biocentre (MIB).

The successful candidate will preferably have (or be about to obtain) a PhD
in computer science, bioinformatics or a related discipline, and will have
research experience in machine learning, text and data mining, shallow and
statistical NLP, or information extraction. Good programming skills (in C,
C++, Java or Perl), as well as experience with XML, SQL and UNIX are
highly desirable.

The appointment is for up to 36 months, starting from October 1, 2005 or
shortly thereafter. The starting salary will be in the range £19,460 -
£29,128 p.a. dependant upon candidate's experience.
