The message below provides an opportunity for you to have an impact on
the future direction of AMTA. If you know of someone who you believe
would be effective serving as the Director representing either
Researchers, Developers, or Users, or if you would like to serve in
one
of these capacities yourself, please consider submitting a nomination.
Details are below.

	     *** Call for Nominations ***

		    AMTA Board of Directors

The Association for Machine Translation in the Americas (AMTA)
is soliciting nominations for three (3) upcoming vacancies on
its Board of Directors. The three current Directors, and their
Constituencies are: Jay Marciano (Developers),
Keith J. Miller (Researchers), and Boyan Onyshkevych (Users).
Three new Directors representing the same three constituent groups
are needed to serve a two-year term on the Board, starting as soon
as the elections are complete.

To be eligible, a Director must be an AMTA member in good standing and
must be willing to participate in the activities of the Board.
Typically, communication of Board members takes place electronically
and deals with advisory issues -- e.g. increasing membership --
although
face-to-face meetings of the Board also take place at conferences. It
is
desirable to nominate people who are willing to contribute at least
some
of their time to furthering the goals of AMTA.

You can nominate more than one person, but each nomination should be
for
a specific type of representative (for researchers, developers, or
users). Before sending in a nomination, please contact your nominee
and
confirm that (s)he is willing to serve if elected. You can also
nominate
yourself for any one of the positions.

The Nomination Committee consists of:

Keith J. Miller keith at mitre.org
Boyan Onyshkevych boyan.o at gmail.com
Jay Marciano jmarciano at sdl.com

Please email your nominations to all three members, and include
for each nominee the following information:

1. Name and title of nominee
2. Organization of nominee
3. The constituency this nominee is being nominated for (one of:
    researcher, developer, end user)
4. Nominee's contact information: phone, fax, email, surface
    mail

Please include the text "AMTA Board Nomination" in the subject line
of your message.

Nominations must be received no later than December 31 , 2005.

				----- Keith J. Miller
