[Elsnet-list] Research Fellow - speech recognition and synthesis
M.J.RUSSELL at bham.ac.uk
Mon Feb 7 13:16:00 CET 2005
School of Engineering (Electronic, Electrical and Computer Engineering)
University of Birmingham, UK
Applications are invited to work on an EPSRC project in automatic speech recognition and synthesis, to develop a 'unified' model that is able to support both these technologies. The project will build on existing research into acoustic modelling in which the relationship between high-level symbolic and low-level acoustic representations of speech is regulated by an articulatory-based intermediate representation.
Applicants should have, or expect to obtain shortly, a PhD in an area related to speech, pattern or image processing. Good numeric and computer programming skills are essential.
Starting salary on scale £19,640 - £21,640 depending on qualifications and experience. The post is available from April 2005 for a period of 3 years.
