The Centre for Speech Technology Research at The University of Edinburgh
is about to start on the development of a new English pronunciation
lexicon for use with the Festival speech synthesis system. Two
researchers, one possibly to be appointed at a senior level, are now
required to research and develop the new lexicon and associated tools.

You will need to have a range of research and computing skills,
including a PhD in a related field and previous programming
experience. A speech technology background is essential, a background
in phonetics and phonology, and experience of pronunciation lexicon
development would be a strong advantage, as would knowledge of
state-of-the-art text-to-speech systems.
