AI4HC 2007 1st International Workshop on AI for Human Computing
in conjunction with Int'l Joint Conf. Artificial Intelligence (IJCAI'07)
Hyderabad, India, January 6, 2007
http://hmi.ewi.utwente.nl/ai4hc07/

CALL FOR PAPERS

SUBMISSION DEADLINE: September 25, 2006

Human Computing is about next-generation anticipatory interfaces that
should be about humans, built for humans, and based on models of
humans. They should go beyond the traditional keyboard and mouse to
include natural, human-like interactive functions including
understanding and emulating behavioral and social signaling.

This multidisciplinary workshop will focus on the AI aspects of Human
Computing and introduce key concepts, discuss theoretical frameworks
and technical approaches, challenges, research opportunities, and open
issues in sensing, modeling, understanding, and emulating human
behavioral and social signaling.

We invite researchers and designers from various disciplines to submit
original technical contributions and provocative position statements
to explore and define ways in which Human Computing can transform
traditional computing.

We seek technical contributions and position statements in the two
main areas of Human Computing (HC): the Front End HC (Multimodal Human
Behavior Analysis) and the Back End HC (Reasoning About Actions and
Change).
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to the following:

* Human Action Recognition (body and hand gestures, facial
expressions, gaze, vocal expressions, speech);
* 3D Modelling of Humans
* Multimodal Human Computer Interaction (body, gaze, gesture, audio,
speech)
* Multimodal and Multi-Party interaction management
* Ambient Intelligence & Ubiquitous Computing;
* Conversational Agents & Interaction in Virtual Worlds
* Affective and Behavioural Interfaces;
* Socially-aware Computing;
* Machine Learning With a Human-In-The Loop;
* User, Context, and Task Modeling in HCI Systems;
* Context-Sensitive Decision Making in HCI Systems
* Cultural and Social Issues in Human Computing;
* Applications of Human Computing (assisted living, education, gaming,
human-robot interaction, etc.)

WORKSHOP FORMAT

The workshop will be organized as a combination of invited and
contributed talks, poster sessions, and a panel discussion.

NOTE: We are currently in process of arranging a special issue on AI
in Human Computing in Lecture Notes in Artificial Intelligence (to be
published in 2007/2008) which will represent a collection of the best
workshop papers. There will be a separate call for papers with a
submission deadline after the notification of acceptance for the
workshop (submissions to the LNAI will undergo an additional review
process).
