Applications are invited for a 4-year Research Associate post to work with
Prof. Stephen Cox on the EPSRC-funded project ŒAdaptive Cognition for
Automated Sports Video Annotation¹ (ACASCA).

ACASVA is an interdisciplinary project combining scientific, engineering and
psychological research in the integration of computer vision and
speech/language processing with the goal of automatic understanding of a
human activity (in this case, a sports game). It is a joint project between
the Centre for Vision, Speech and Signal Processing at the University of
Surrey and the School of Computing Sciences at the University of East
Anglia.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the speech and language
aspects of the project, which will involve research into automatic speech
recognition techniques and integration of information derived from a audio
sports commentary with information derived from the video into a grammatical
framework for interpretation of the game. Candidates should have experience
in a computational/mathematical field, ideally in computer speech or audio
processing or a related field, and a proven track record of research.

Informal enquiries will be welcomed by Prof. Stephen Cox, s.j.cox at uea.ac.uk.
