Special issue of the
ACM Transactions on Intelligent Systems and Technology on
Computational Models of Collective Intelligence in the Social Web

Over the recent years, the ubiquitous use of computers and the World
Wide Web enabled people to participate and interact with each other in
numerous Web communities, including forums, discussion groups, and
social networks. Observing the user-generated content resulting from
such interactions offers computer scientists unprecedented
opportunities for studying the collective intelligence of online
communities. To date, a considerable amount of research has been
devoted to the social Web, but the fundamental mechanisms that govern
the dynamics of online social interactions are yet to be understood.

We solicit submissions on the latest research in computational models
of collective intelligence in the social Web. Topics of interest
include, but are not limited to:

- Exploiting collective human intelligence in knowledge extraction
  and modeling;
- Knowledge inference from user-generated content in social networks;
- Modeling user behavior (including learning behavioral patterns from
  collective social media);
- Social behavior prediction;
- Computational models of social learning and social influence;
- Predictive social dynamics;
- Modeling complex social systems;
- Evolution models of social communities and social media;
- Large scale analysis of feedback and interaction logs;
- Opinion extraction and trend detection;
- Collaborative filtering in social networks.

Papers should be submitted through the Manuscript Central system (to
be available in April, 2010) at http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/tist.
Please select "Special Issue: Computational Models of Collective
Intelligence in the Social Web" as the manuscript type. Each paper
will be reviewed by at least three expert reviewers. Further details
on manuscript preparation as well as publication policies are
available on the ACM TIST Web site at
