LAST CALL FOR ECIR 2011 WORKSHOP PROPOSALS

http://www.ecir2011.dcu.ie/submitting/workshops/

The European Conference on Information Retrieval provides an opportunity for both new and established researchers to present research papers reporting new, unpublished, and innovative research results within information retrieval.

Proposals are invited for one-day or half-day workshops to be run on the first day of the conference, the 18th of April, 2011. The workshops will be co-located with the ECIR 2011 tutorials and will take place at the conference centre at the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin City Centre.

The purpose of ECIR workshops is to provide a platform for the presentation and discussion of emerging trends, issues and challenges in a focused and interactive manner. As such, the workshops offer a common forum to engage and encourage researchers (in particular PhD students) to present and discuss their work, obtain valuable feedback in a supportive and friendly environment, and contribute to the outcomes and objectives of the workshop. Consequently, we are looking for exciting and dynamic workshops that have significant scope for participant interaction, and which aim to produce a report and/or some other type of output based on the workshop (for instances, an online group or resource, a bibliography of the research area, a guide, list of challenges, etc).

Proposals should be 2-3 pages in length (ACM format), see http://www.ecir2011.dcu.ie/submitting/workshops/ for more details.

The deadline for submitting workshop proposals is the 17th of September, 2010. Submissions to be sent in PDF format to Leif Azzopardi (Leif.Azzopardi at glasgow.ac.uk) with subject field "ECIR Workshop". The submissions will undergo peer review and will be selected by the Workshop Program Committee. We anticipate notifications being sent on the 1st of November, 2010.
