The Department of Informatics at Hamburg University, Germany,  is soliciting  
applications for a full time position of a 

research/teaching assistant 

in the area of Natural Language Processing. Salary and benefits are set 
according to level 13 TV-L  for a regular work load of 39 hours per week. The 
contract will have a duration of three years and offers the opportunity to 
pursue a doctural degree. 

Hamburg University is determined to achieve a better balance between both 
genders among its scientific staff and therefore strongly encourages female

The successful candidate will have to provide support for class-room 
activities within a range of Informatics-related curricula on the bachelor and 
master level, focussing in particular on Logic Programming, Databases and 
Information Systems, Machine Learning, and Natural Language Processing. She 
will carry out research in the area of Natural Language Systems, aiming e.g. 
at the processing of unrestricted text or spoken language. In addition, 
contributions to maintain the computational infrastructure of the research 
group are expected.

The Natural Language Systems Group is embedded into the Centre for Intelligent 
Systems und Robotics, which offers a lively and stimulating interdisciplinary 
environment. One of its primary goals consists in combining techniques and 
problem solving approaches of Informatics with Methods and Insights form 
Linguistics, Computational Linguistics und Psycholinguistics.

The ideal applicant should hold a masters degree (or equivalent) in a relevant 
subject area, e.g. Informatics, Computational Linguistics, or Cognitive 
Science. Substantial expertise in Informatics is a must. Since the position is 
involved in teaching activities, a good command of German is required.
