[Elsnet-list] 2 PhD positions in UCD Computer Science, Dublin

I would like to draw your attention to the availability of two funded PhD
positions in the School of Computer Science and Informatics, UCD, Dublin,
Ireland, to begin in March 2013

Candidates are sought to work in a multi-institutional research project
named the Centre for Next Generation Localization (CNGL), sponsored by
Science Foundation Ireland.

Specifically, candidates will conduct original research and development in
one of the two following topics:

-- development/acquisition of a nuanced affect/emotion lexicon for
affective text processing in multiple languages

-- affective text retrieval (including affective query expansion and
affective summarization) with particular emphasis on the domain of news

Each position is funded for 3 years, with a financial package that includes
a tax-free stipend of 16,000 euros per annum, and free fees (for EU
candidates; fees are higher for non-EU candidates)

Candidates should have a background in Computer Science, good development
skills with Java, and a strong interest in language technology.
