Please find below the Call for Workshop Proposals for the
Fourteenth International Conference on Intelligent Virtual Agents (IVA 2014)
August 27-29, Boston, USA.

Intelligent virtual agents (IVAs) are interactive characters that
communicate with humans or with each other using natural human
modalities such as facial expressions, speech and gesture.
They are capable of real-time perception, cognition and action
that allows them to participate in dynamic social environments.
IVA 2014 is an interdisciplinary annual conference and the main
leading scientific forum for presenting research on modeling, developing
and evaluating intelligent virtual agents with a focus on communicative
abilities and social behavior.
In addition to presentations on theoretical issues, the conference
the showcasing of working applications relevant to intelligent virtual
IVA 2014 - Call for Workshop Proposals
IVA 2014 will host workshops in current and emerging topic areas related
to Intelligent Virtual Agents. The goal of the IVA workshops is to
provide a forum for informal and lively discussions and research
presentations on emerging applications, technologies, concepts or ideas
related to Intelligent Virtual Agents.
Workshops will be held on Tuesday August 26, 2014 at Northeastern University
in Boston, immediately preceding the main IVA conference.
We invite workshop proposals on any current or emerging topic of
relevance for the field of Intelligent Virtual Agents. In particular we
welcome workshop proposals from international collaborative research
projects as well as workshops targeting research communities or applied
fields where Intelligent Virtual Agents and associated technologies are
becoming increasingly relevant, for example e-learning, human-robot
interaction, assistive technology, computer games and interactive
Workshop proposals for IVA 2014 must include:
a) The title, acronym and the goals of the workshop
b) Names and contact information for the organizers, and prior
experience organizing meetings.
c) The specific topics that will be addressed by the workshop
d) Whether the workshop has run before, and if so where/when
e) The relevance and significance of this workshop to the main
f) The estimated paper submission volume and paper acceptance rate
g) Full day or half day workshop program
h) A draft workshop call for papers
i) The paper selection process
j) The program committee members and their affiliations
k) The workshop format and tentative schedule
l) Potential invited speakers, if any
m) A list of individuals who have expressed interest in attending the
workshop (they do not have to commit themselves to attending the
workshop at this time)
Evaluation of workshop proposals will be based on the quality of the
the level of detail, the workshop theme and its relevance to IVA 2014.
January 27, 2014: Workshop proposals due
February 17, 2014: Notification of acceptance
August 26, 2014: Workshops
