The doctoral consortium of the IVA 2014 conference
(http://www.ccs.neu.edu/iva2014/) will be held on Tuesday, 26 August
2014 at Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts.

IVA (Intelligent Virtual Agents) is the leading scientific forum for
presenting research on intelligent virtual agents. The IVA doctoral
consortium offers an opportunity for doctoral students to get feedback
and guidance on their current research and future research directions
from distinguished researchers outside their own institution.

The doctoral consortium day occurs the day before the start of the main
conference. It will provide a supportive setting that allows the
selected students to present and discuss their work with an audience of
distinguished researchers as well as other students.

Each selected student will be matched with an established researcher
in the community, who will act as a /mentor/. The mentor
will interact closely with the student, to provide feedback and guidance
on the student's research and career before and during the doctoral
consortium day.

We invite students who would like to benefit from this guidance to
apply. We encourage in particular candidates who have a clear topic and
research approach, and have made some progress, but who can still
benefit from feedback and guidance.

Based on the submissions, the organizing committee will select a group
of students that will be invited to participate in the doctoral
consortium day. The selected students will be expected to attend and
present at the doctoral consortium.

Submissions consist of the following documents which students should
provide:

1.A four-page extended abstract of the student's thesis work (in the
IVA submission format)

2.A short (2-page) resume (Curriculum Vitae)

3.A recommendation letter from the advisor/supervisor.

The documents should be emailed to: Magalie Ochs
(magalie.ochs(at)telecom-paristech.fr)

The recommendation letter should address the expected benefit of
the student attending, the significance of the research, and the
beginning date of the thesis as well as the expected date for thesis
submission.
