Dr. César A. Beltrán Castañón (cbeltran at pucp.pe)

Within recently awarded multi-disciplinary research projects a team of
computing scientists and biomedical specialists (andrologist, botanist,
coffee farmers) is looking into image based, automatic pattern recognition
in bioimaging. The focus is on detecting pathologies and classifying
biological species in automatically captured images.

We are seeking for a highly-motivated, post-doctoral expert in computer
vision / biological image analysis to conduct research within a
multidisciplinary research group.

We are partnered with internationally recognized research groups and you
will develop innovative computer vision / image analysis algorithms and
software for pattern segmentation and recognition in bioimages.

You will collaborate with our industrial partners, pattern recognition
researchers, and other disciplines (primarily medicine, botany and
agriculture) as part of a future major project.

You must have a recently PhD related to pattern recognition / biological
image analysis and a good publication track record in internationally
leading venues. The successful candidate will have strong mathematical and
software development skills, good verbal communication and technical
writing skills, and an ability to work to deadlines.

The position is for one year in the first instance and has the potential to
be extended for suitably qualified candidates if skills, interest and
performance allow. This position is immediately available and will start at
a mutually agreed upon date. We have a grant that will cover a monthly
payment, participation in conferences, health insurance during the
fellowship period,and airline tickets (for transportation from your current
location to Lima-Peru).

The application must include the following:
• Cover letter highlighting his/her suitability for this position;
• Curriculum vitae;
• Two letters of reference.
The application should be sent to Dr. Céar Beltrán Castañón (
cbeltran at pucp.pe), email applications only. The position is available until
filled. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
